Green Renovation

Due to a very dry summer and the green being built on an unstable base, the green has sunk in many places.  The club had two real options (doing nothing was not considered an option).

  1. To have the green dug up and resurfaced
  2. To start a renovation programme with a specialist contractor.

Option 2 was taken and quotes obtained, a contractor was chosen and work began in late September.  This is part of a 3 year programme but, in parallel, funding is being sought which may give other options for year 2.

January 2014

Major renovation work took place in January. The edge by Canterbury Road has been lifted and levelled. The middle of the edge had to be raised five inches, some new side boards were added and the area re-turfed. The green has been vertidrained (deep aeration to a depth of between 8”-10”) hence the large spiky machine
Levelling across the rest of the green is continuing with more top soil gradually being applied to the dips; another ton of top soil is about to be ordered.
