Back form our five day bowling tour of Eastbourne. Despite disappointing weather we had a good time. We did get some bowling outdoors and on the wet days we managed to arrange some indoor bowls at the Eastbourne Indoors Bowls Club – fantastic place and great music.
Our hotel – The Langham – for the tour. A great hotel, very friendly and delicious food.
Congratulations to all our members who took part in yesterdays Farnham & Distract finals held at our club. We were in four finals, three of which we won!
We beat Odiham in the Ken Britten Cup. The photo of the squad Geoff Ringrose, Edna Lakeman, Harrison Ash, Mick Moorcroft, Anne Hellier and Andy Barrington is opposite.
We beat Aldershot Underwood in the F&D Mixed Triples and
Sheila and Diane beat a pair from Bourne to win the ladies pairs. Sheila also was runner up in the ladies singles.
I am not sure but it must be one the most successful days in the club history, certainly it will go down as a day all those who took part will never forget. The amount of spectators was tremendous. I have to say it gave me great pleasure and pride watching our players represent our club so successfully.
Also, a big thanks you for those who helped on the day, some being at the club at 8am to get things ready and not leaving until 8pm. I had many visiting players say what a great job Farnborough BC had done to host the finals and the manner it was run and friendliness of our members. All in all it was a good day, one of our best. Well done all.
Alec.

This year’s Nell Rumble saw the highest entry since 2002 with 11 teams.
Each team was randomly allocated a team name with the defending champions ironically drawing the ‘C Team’ with the name ‘Champions’.
After a sunny start and then a very wet couple of matches we all enjoyed the usual super buffet that is always a highlight of this competition. We then resumed play in dry sunny conditions for the remainder of the day.
The final proved to be a very worthy finale to the day with last year’s runners-up (Bob and Judy Savory and Geoff Chadd) winning on the very last bowl against the ladies trio of Christine Lee, Diane Hill and Sheila Andrews.
Thanks go to everyone who took part, those who organised the buffet and to everyone who helped set up the rinks and make the day the usual success.
