The Inaugural Christine Lee Cup

As a mark of honour to Christine Lee who very sadly passed a way in July, the club decided to introduce a new ladies’ competition – The Christine Lee Cup

A huge thank you to Barry and Martin for organising the Christine Lee Cup competition and for all the prizes. Sixteen ladies took part and everyone said what a memorable day it was and how much they enjoyed it.  Christine would have been very proud and pleased to see so many of our ladies out on the green.   All proceeds raised today will be donated to the Phyllis Tuckwell Charity in memory of Christine.
A big thank you to the markers, those who helped in the morning to put the rinks/equipment out and the spectators.

A special thank you to Vicky and John Raison for donating the beautiful glass trophy which will remain in the club house for all to see.

Edith and Pam Mitchell were runners up in the semi-finals.

Rachel and Sheila had a bit of a battle in the final, 21 all on the last end, with Rachel the winner.

2 Wood Pair 24th July

On Sunday the 2 Wood pairs game was played in gorgeous weather. The competition is a knockout played as 3 sets making it a bit difference.
After the initial round the winning pairs competed for the shield and the others for the Plate.
After some good matches the eventual winners were Jack and Stuart Markham who beat Rachel and Michael in the final.

The winners of the plate was Edith and Barbara who beat Alan and Brian. Barbara said “She is going to treasure her plate for life”

Killer Bowls on 10th July

There was cheering, booing, clapping, and bantering with lots of false commiserations. A lot of fun, I hope.
The purpose of the game was to eliminate the opposition and there certainly seemed to be the feeling that was exactly what the players wanted to do.
24 took part, only one survived: Jack Markham – our congratulations go to him.
Thank you to Edith, Carol and Mick Browne who made sure this would happen and thanks go to everyone for staying until the end and help clear up.
