Saturday 7th March is Farnborough Bowling Club’s Spring Meeting.
The club will be open from 9am to 11am for existing members to renew their membership and enter the club competitions.
Experienced bowlers considering joining Farnborough are invited along to meet some of our members.

Farnborough Bowling Club in Canterbury Road was the venue for a Christmas Pantomime attended by a number of local Senior Citizens on Sunday 14th December. It was expertly acted out by Members of the Bowling Club.
Seasons Greetings and good will were the themes of the afternoon when Farnborough Bowling Club and its A&E Players put on a Pantomime loosely based on the story of Aladdin and then provided a cracking Christmas Tea for everyone. The audience included residents from Knellwood and Lavender Lodge; a great afternoon was had by all.
Mr Peter Moate, the Manager of the Co-operative Store on Woburn Avenue, Farnborough kindly sponsored the event by providing the afternoon Christmas Tea for all.
The Lady Mayoress, Diane Bedford, closed the event at 5pm wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Farnborough Bowling Club members score two hotshots at Camberley Indoor Bowling Club in less than two weeks.
The first one was on the 21st October when Sheila Andrews and Keith Dunstone scored 8 in the early part of a pairs league game.
The second one happened on the 2nd November when Sheila “two hotshots” Andrews, Michael Andrews and Pat & David Bentall from Mytchett picked up 8 shots on the last end of a rinks game against Mayford Hall, securing them top rink in the process.
The Bowls Development Alliance are delighted to report that rates of recruitment through BDA funded activity has more than doubled in the past six months. Between April 2013 and April 2014, BDA funded activity resulted in 1,706 new people, aged 55 and over, regularly participating in the sport of bowls. In the six months since, over 1,900 new people, aged 55 and over, have taken up the sport. Susan Cooper, Development Director for the BDA said “this is extremely encouraging news for our sport and testament to the clubs, coaches and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to recruit so many new people into bowls. This news also inspires great confidence that the work of the BDA and its partners is having a positive impact.”
The annual Autumn Walk was well attending again, well done to John Lakeman for arranging such an interesting walk right on our doorstep.
Another great presentation evening at the Farnham Golf Club. A lovely meal and lots of trophies to award for all of the competition winners. It was nice that several new bowlers picked up a few, particularly Chris Henderson and Anthony LaFrenais.
The highlight was the awarding off a new trophy for the most improved player going to Joan Moorcroft, see comment below
I was overwhelmed to receive the lovely new trophy in memory of Adrian Hill for “ The Most Improved Player”
