Fish & Chip Drive

Thanks to David J for organising yesterdays fish and chip drive, despite the weather, rain and hailstones, then eventually the sunshine, it was a great afternoons bowling and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Thanks to everyone who supported last weeks Monday club, another great turnout, tomorrow is “chocolate triples”, hope all you regulars can make it and it would be good to see others. Also on Tuesday afternoon it is Ladies roll-up from 2pm onwards.

Monday Club

Excellent turnout at Monday Club today, luckily weather was kind and from the laughter everyone seemed to be having a great time. We had six non members, quite a few of our newer members and a good number of our more experienced members. Big thanks to Jane for helping out with the teas and washing up. Hope to see you all in the weeks to come. Keep bowling.

Spring Newsletter

Spring Newsletter 2013

The Spring Newsletter is a new initiative at the club for the 2013 season and is supported by the President.  It is full of information about the new bowling season, forthcoming bowling events, news about grant funding and is seasoned with a little light hearted humour.   There will be four newsletters throughout the 2013 season – March, June, September & December, I would very much welcome and appreciate your feedback throughout the year and indeed your contribution.   Let me know about your bowling successes, forthcoming social events or good news stories and I will incorporate them into the newsletter to keep everyone updated.

I hope you enjoy reading the Spring newsletter.

Kind regards
Diane

Positive meeting to consider future of bowls

A positive meeting was held earlier today between representatives of the three bodies that form the Coach Bowls scheme – Bowls England, EIBA Ltd and the Bowls Development Alliance – and representatives of the English Bowls Coaches Society EBCS in Royal Leamington Spa to consider the way forward for coaching in bowls. During the meeting, which was also attended by coaches representing various counties across England, Coach Bowls presented a discussion paper that aims to create a coaching system that meets the needs of both coaches and players. The paper will now be circulated to all affiliated clubs indoor, affiliated clubs and county associations outdoor and the EBCS for consultation ahead of a further meeting that will be held in Royal Leamington Spa on Tuesday 26th March.Tony Allcock MBE, Chief Executive of Bowls England and Chair of the Bowls Development Alliance, said: “The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for all parties to share their views on the future of coaching, with excellent input from many present. The discussion paper includes specific information which I trust will alleviate some of the misconceptions that have existed in the wider domain. This paper will now be circulated to all relevant parties to ensure that clubs and county associations have the opportunity to view the proposal and let us have feedback ahead of the next meeting.”Click here to view the discussion paper.”
