Farnborough Men play Old Basing in the National Top Club on Thursday 5th June, 6:30pm at Old Basing. The team selection is on the notice board.
Men’s Competitions
A mixed result over the last two days for the men. On Sunday we had a 3 – 2 win against Cove B in the National Men’s Top Club. The Triples, Pairs and Four Wood Singles all winning. Martin Lee’s 2 Wood Singles game was a tie after 21 ends but unfortunately he lost the extra end.
On Monday we didn’t fair so well when away to Hook in the National 2 Fours. Our men were up against a good Hook side and although they got within 5 shots of Hook they never quite got the shots necessary to win but a good effort by all of the 8 Bowlers.
Chris Henderson, Alec Sharman and Michael Andrews have won their first games in the County 4 Wood Singles. Unfortunately Michael and Alec have to play each other and Chris is against Keith Dunstone in the next round. The good news is that Farnborough will definitely have two contenders in the next round, the bad news, two are going to get knocked out.
Tonight sees the first Aldershot & District League Games, so good luck to both teams.

General Update
Hi all, just thought I would do an update since the Club opened on Saturday.
A big thank you to all those who helped out Saturday, social as well as playing Members helped out and by the end of the session, the green, the surrounding areas and the Club house was looking great.
The opening drive on Sunday afternoon was well attended, the weather was just right and approx. 28 of us turned up to bowl, we also had a few spectators who enjoyed the afternoon sunshine. The afternoon kicked off with two “spiders”, one for the ladies and one for the men. Pauline Lane won the ladies and Tony Green won the mens, well done and hope you both enjoy your Easter egg. The proceeds will be donated to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, which is very poignant at this time and your contributions are much appreciated.
We had an excellent turn out for Monday Club, 31 people turned up, some came from other local Clubs and the U3A, again the weather was great and everyone said how they enjoyed the afternoon, there was a lot of laughter and joking going on off and on the bowls green. Thank you to all for your support, it certainly makes it worth while, not only is it a fun afternoon it brings money into the Club. If anyone wants to invite bowlers from other Clubs, please do so, Monday Club is open to non-members and all it will cost them is £3.10p for a fab afternoon.
Monday Club will be running on Easter Monday afternoon, let’s hope the weather stays fine.
The next bowling event is the Fish and Chip drive on the 26th April, unfortunately Anne Hellier is unwell so I have put a sheet up so that people can start putting their names down, there are quite a few names on the sheet already and I will let us know the cost in due course.
Happy Easter and bowling of course.
