Donkey Derby Day

What a day! Loads of people popped in to and from the local Donkey Derby.  We had laid on refreshments, a tombola, bric-a-brac and some fun bowls game- not forgetting water and biscuits for the many dogs. The bowling was a great success and some want to come back for more.  In all a very successful day.  A big thanks to all who helped make it happen.

Green Improvement – Sports England Funding Application

Our Funding Application for the green improvements was submitted to Sports England on 8th January.  We now need to keep our fingers crossed that it gets approved.  2nd April – The application is now being reviewed. Let’s hope it is a positive one.

Update – Our funding application was unsuccessful but we are going ahead with Plan B which is to replace just the green.  We have already initiated this plan and have had a very successful meeting with Rushmoor Council.

Memorial Trophy

DSC01522A great day of bowling in beautiful weather. Faultlessly organised by Martin as usual. Along the way we had a few spot prices: Arthur won the spider competition at the beginning of the day. Pam won the 1st toucher of the day.
A great buffet lunch was served, all of the members preparing some excellent food.  During the lunch break we had a corner to corner competition, Alec set the early target which was beaten by Cindy but Martin stole it at the end.
Andy won the 1st toucher after lunch and after 5 games of 3 wood pairs the finalist were Andy Barrington and Keith Brown v Geoff Chadd and Pam Page.  The final was all square going into the last end when Geoff and Pam got the shot to take the game and win.  The trophy was presented by Councillor John Wall and Laura Wansell (Instigator of the trophy)
Before the final we auction the cake, donated by Andy, which went for £12 bring the total collected for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to £180, Well done all.
