Sunday was the last competition of this unusual season restricted by the Coronavirus.
The qualifying was run as 4 leagues each playing 3 games. The winners of these were Ian and Brian, Paul and Amanda, Graham and John, Michael and Barbara who proceeded to the semi finals.
The semis were close games with Graham/John and Michael/Barbara ended up as the finalists.
The final was another tight game with nothing in it going into the last end where Graham put two bowls right on the jack. Michael had to do something and a running shot managed to move the jack into the open. Barbara then draw 2 brilliant shots which John was unable to match and claimed the title without bowling the last bowl.

The Killer Bowls weekend took place on 22/23 August – there were 42 entrants. Due to Covid restrictions, the tournament was held over two days in four separate sessions.

It was billed as “Something Different” and it certainly was – it was amazing the different atmospheres that were created by each session, some  more serious than others, some had a lot more long measures and the noise level varied greatly between them.

Congratulations to everyone that took part and I hope you all enjoyed. This tournament was designed to be light-hearted and I sure it was.

The finalists on Saturday morning were Alison Perry, Chrissie Cook, Tony Fenby; Saturday afternoon Michael Andrews, Barbara Ford, Graham Thomas; Sunday morning Mick Browne, John Hildreth and Sunday afternoon (the noisy lot) Steve Wood, Martin Lee, Allan Paice.

Today Chris Wright and Michael Andrews presented Barry Lee with a Honorary Membership.

You will know that this honour is very rarely bestowed and is only awarded to those, like Barry, who have made an exceptional and outstanding contribution to the Club. Barry has done this as the longest serving Secretary and with his willingness to volunteer when work is required to the clubhouse. Barry’s record on the bowls green and in support of the Club is an encouragement to all members and a credit to the Club. We appreciate Barry’s efforts and looks forward to his continued membership.
