Saturday saw 16 pairs compete in the Aussie Pairs in gorgeous weather
The format was 4 sections of 4 Pairs with the winner being the pair with the highest shot difference across all 16 team.
This was necessary to be able to fit into an afternoon and give everyone 3 games.
The eventual winners, somewhat added by a hot shot in game 2, were Stuart and Chrissie.
We are also very grateful to Cindy and Barbara on their demonstration on how best to hold a pusher
Many thanks for supporting today’s competition, especially to those who stepped in late to ensure we had 10 full triple teams. Despite a large black cloud about noon that din’t produce any rain, the weather was warm and dry.
A couple of bowlers were taking part in their first competition – I hope you enjoyed it and will enter many more.

This year’s Memorial Shield had to be run again with Covid-19 restrictions which meant it had to be run over 2 days. Chris, Amanda and Allen won the Saturday heats, playing in wet conditions.
Sunday saw much nicer weather and after 5 Games, Barbara, Jo and Michael ended winners just beating Sheila, Graham and Gordon in a very tight heat.
The final saw Michael’s team take an early lead which they never relinquished.
As always the event was run very smoothly due to the amount of hard work Martin put in before and during the competition.
What’s more we raised £215 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bowls’ Big Weekend is a national initiative to promote our welcoming and socially-distanced sport and attract new members. Taking place over the Spring Bank Holiday of the 2021 season (Friday 28th to Monday 31st May).
Farnborough Bowling Club are welcoming anyone who wishes to try lawn bowls to join us on Monday 31st May, between 11am and 4pm. Just complete a request, link below
We are looking forward to the 2021 season. Last year we provided a safe environment to play and watch bowls with strict Covid-19 protocols. For this season we have upgraded all our hygiene systems with automatic soap and sanitiser dispensers and new hand dryers. 
We plan to open sometime in the second half of April, depending on green condition and Government guidelines.
Coaching sessions should be available from the beginning of May. A request form is available Coach Request
On Monday 31st May we are taking part in the National Bowls Big Weekend when we will open for a day of fun and an opportunity to try bowls.
