Succesful Open day

FBC Poster new bowlers version 2 - 25.2.18_10As always we opened the club to the public on the Rotary Club’s Donkey Derby Day.  We had a terrific response from the public with a constant stream of people popping in for some refreshments. Lots of the children played fun bowls with the target wedge and some older ones had a good try at bowls.

If you got a taste for it yesterday and want to take it further, or didn’t get to try bowls, come along on Saturday morning for 10am and have some coaching.

Eastbourne Tour 2015

Back form our five day bowling tour of Eastbourne. Despite disappointing weather we had a good time. We did get some bowling outdoors and on the wet days we managed to arrange some indoor bowls at the Eastbourne Indoors Bowls Club – fantastic place and great music.

Men’s A&D team win Division 4

After very good results in August for both teams.
The B team win Division 4 after an end of season battle between the other contender Mytchett.  The A team had already won Division 2 a couple of weeks ago.

Farnborough needed a draw or win to secure the title but excelled themselves with a 5-0 win, whilst the A team won 5-0 away at Traco: so much for Traco accusing us of playing ringers.
A great season for both teams, well done.

Farnborough top of A&D Leagues

Both our teams are now top of their relevant divisions.  The B team had a very good 5-0 win against Yateley to go half a point ahead of Mytchett in Division 4.  The final game in Division 4 is Farnborough v Mytchett at home so this will be a title decider.  Farnborough need a draw or win to take the league title.
If you are free next Tuesday evening get down to the club and support our men; I am sure it will help them in this “crunch” game.

Edna & Keith win Aussie Pairs 2014

What a day?  The forecast was for heavy showers all day but we decided to go ahead anyway: what a decision! Apart for a couple of very short showers the weather was great with long periods of sunshine in the afternoon.

Winners Edna and KeithThe format was Aussie Pairs 2-4-2. with each team consisting of a “Sheila” and a “Bruce”.
The draw of 15 pairs was made and bowling proceeded with 3 leagues of 5 pairs.
After 3 Games a delicious buffet lunch was served (Thanks to Sheila and Vicky). Competition then continued.
After some tightly fought games the 4 semi-finalists were decided

  • Chris & Judy
  • Geoff & Joan
  • Keith & Edna
  • Bob & Mick

The semi-finals saw some close bowling, eventually Chris & Judy beat Geoff & Joan 7-4 and Keith and Edna beat Bob & Mick(Honorary “Sheila”) 7-5.

The final saw some superb bowling by all four bowlers, eventually Keith & Edna coming out on top 7-5. Photos of the day

A great big thanks to all who took part and helped organise.
