We have had another great year of bowling.
- We opened in April with fun drives which were quickly followed by Killer Bowls. This was won on the very last bowl of the final with a ‘killer bowl’ from Graeme. There’s always next year Mick!
- In May we held our annual Memorial Day with funds raised for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
- In late May we had our super Open Day and raised over £600 for club funds.
- Our Drawn Triples Costar proved popular and we have new names on the trophy this year.
- President v Vice President turned into a goodbye to former Presidents Michael and Sheila as they move to Wiltshire for pastures new. We all wish them the best and thank them for all they have done for the club.
- The Two Wood Pairs turned out to be a ‘first’ as the final was an exact repeat of last year – it even had the same result. On this occasion (not like Killer Bowls) we can say, Congratulation Mick!
- We also had a well supported and successful Two Wood Rumble Triples with the eventual winners being pushed all the way by new bowlers, well done all.
- Ladies’ Day was another excellent day and well done to Pam for her hat-trick of wins.
- Barry Day, to mark his 40 years at the club, was something very special. With the hog roast, super raffle, new inventive games and over 70 people present it really was a day to remember.
- We rounded up the season with club finals (well done to every finalist), Candle-lit, Aussie Pairs and Crown Green.
- The weather was for the most part HOT, but we did have a hailstorm that temporarily stopped play.
- We also did well in external competitions and this year finally won the F&D Goolding Cup meaning the club is only one of 3 to have won all 11 F&D titles.
- We hosted very successful A&D finals and came runner-up in the Stan Hardman Plate competition.
We are now sadly closed for the season but scarifying, seeding, tining, top dressing and levelling work has already started on the green.
During the winter we have Games, Boccia, Darts, Skittles, Quizzes and of course the Annual Dinner to look forward to.
Thank you to everyone for supporting us this season and let’s look forward to playing again in 2026!
