Mary Rimington – RIP

It is with much sadness that we have to announce that Mary died on Tuesday 17th April.  Our thoughts go out to Brian and the family.

The funeral took place  on Friday 11th May at St Peters Church, Farnborough.

Many of the club bowlers, along with Mary’s family, friends and colleagues, attended on the day.  Collectively they gave Mary the send off she deserved, she obviously was a very much loved lady.

Brian has requested flowers from the family only, but a donation can be made to the Stroke Association via the funeral directors, Co-Op, Farnborough or via the following link Donate

  1. Dear Mary, What a lovely lady, one of the best, a good friend, always
cheerful and helpful. I will miss you so much at bowls, our trips to London
and at Line Dancing. We did your favourite dance this week, “The Lemon
Tree”, in your memory, it was very emotional. I will remember you always.
    Love Pauline

  2. As new bowlers last year Mary made both Amanda and I very welcome. Her sense of fun and enthusiasm for the game were very infectious. Whenever we played friendlies and she was skip, there were always words of support and encouragement which I found soothing and calming. For the club triples last year she very generously offered to play with us so we could enter. We both learnt a lot that day. Although she enjoyed her game she was always competitive and told us if in doubt always to challenge.

We will miss her smile, support and the sweeties she also brought for a game.

  3. Although I am relatively new to the club, Mary would stop for a chat and would be very encouraging. She was always smiling and cheerful and had a great sense of humour. Mary will be greatly missed by all.

  4. Dear Mary what a sad loss you are going to be.
I loved your straight talking, sense of fun, your willingness to get stuck in with any jobs that needed doing at the club.
I also thank you for help and assistance you gave new bowlers like myself.
I will always remember the fantastic game of bowls we had (You, Michael Andrews and myself) had at Chawton Park – we walked on water!!
It won,t be the same without you.

  5. The Carmicheals will greatly miss Mary running the indoor team next
season even though losing frequently we enjoyed the games.
Mary was very helpful whether on the green or in the clubhouse and we will miss her cheery smile. .

  6. I Always enjoyed playing in the same team as Mary at Farnborough and also at the indoor bowling during the winter months. She will be greatly missed by everybody who knew her. Rest in Peace Mary.

  7. What a pleasure it was to bowl with Mary, always enjoying her game, win or lose. She was also always willing to help new members with advice or get stuck into anything that needed doing around the club with that cheerful smile. She was such a lovely lady and will be missed by all.

    Alec.

  8. Such a sad loss, As a new bowler Mary was one of the members who gave me a lot of advice and support. As a person she was delightful, the club will really miss her.
