President’s Afternoon Tea

A few photos from the Presidents’ Afternoon Tea. Members from our neighbouring clubs, Aldershot Underwood and Farnborough Gate, were invited to allow the committee to say thank you for given us green time before our new green opened.

The afternoon started with a Target Wedge Competition – organised by Sheila and Harrison – which was fiercely contested, although more scored zero than any points.

P1020847President Michael and Vice President Joan served tea and delicate sandwiches, made and provide by President Michael, and a large array of Cakes and scones, provide by Vice President Joan.

To celebrate Christine Lee’s birthday a cup cake with candle was produced and a tuneful rendition of Happy Birthday.

The afternoon was rounded off with one of Michael’s quizzes (thankfully a much easier one this time)

NHWBA Past Presidents’ Day

DSC03079On Saturday Farnborough Bowling Club hosted the North Hampshire Women Bowling Association’s Past Presidents’ Day. Sheila Andrews, our Club Captain, is the Immediate Past President and organised a splendid lunch: having enticed / bribed some Farnborough Bowlers and her granddaughter to help.

Unfortunately the weather turned very wet after lunch and no bowling was possible.

IMG_7762Margaret Hankin, as always, had a plan B and a draw for the spider and a challenging quiz entertained everyone to teatime.
The Spider made £47 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Of course there had to be a raffle and there were plenty of prizes to be won.

Harrison’s 30th Birthday

DSC03067It is not often that bowling clubs celebrates a member’s 30th birthday but that is exactly what Farnborough Bowling Club did on Monday.

Some of our members and Harrison’s parents met at the Squirrel Pub to surprise Harrison Ash who had been tricked into thinking he had been picked up for a roll up by Keith.

Carol supplied the cake and cards and presents were given.

Harrison was suitably embarrassed but enjoyed the sentiment even though he had a district game in the afternoon – which he won. A great gathering for someone who has done a lot for the club.DSC03065
We are lucky as a club as Harrison is not our youngest member. We have a couple in there mid twenties.  We also have 2 social members who are pre-teen albeit they are dogs.
