F&D Finals 2025

A great weekend for the club at the Farnham and District finals. In the morning Wendy and Chrissie were runners up in the Ladies’ Pairs and our two Triples teams were runners up in the Ken Britton Cup.
But the icing on the cake was in the afternoon when our two Rinks teams won the Goolding Cup. In past years the Club has won every other F&D competition, but this is the first time we have ever won the Goolding Cup.

Congratulations to everyone from all the clubs that made it to the finals and thank you to Mytchett Bowling Club for doing such a great job hosting the event.

Christine Lee Day 2025

On 24th August we held the Christine Lee Ladies’ Fun Day.

This is in memory of Christine who was the longest serving Ladies’ President and joined in 1985.

Despite a lower entry this year we had a super day with great bowling and excellent weather.

This day is played as a 3 bowl singles in a league, but with a twist. On one end in each match players can opt for a ‘wildcard’ when they can play a fourth bowl to try to get out of trouble. This has proved to be a popular idea and if played right can be decisive.

The competition was won by Pam Laken (for the third consecutive year… well done Pam!) and the runner-up was Alison Wrigley.

Well done to all who played and many thanks for the men for running the day and for marking.

A&D Finals 2025

On 23rd August we were proud to host the finals of all the Aldershot & District competitions.

Gordon Lamb, a member of FBC and A&D President was well supported by our club and our super team of bar and kitchen staff.

Our Secretary Martin was defending the Secretary Singles he won last year and this time he came a close second. Thanks go to Stuart, Terry and Keith for marking the three singles finals.

Congratulations go to Leo May of Cove who won the Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours. An outstanding achievement. We also send our congratulations to Luke May for winning the Pairs, Triples and Fours.

The Champion of Champions was worthy of the name and ended in a nail biting 21-20 finish with Russell Barker of Windlesham just pipping Derrick Lott of Yateley.

Camberley managed to reverse their loss in the Coventry Cup final last year to Farnborough by narrowly beating Cove 33-31.

We were very pleased to finish second in the Premier Division of the league:

Farnborough sends our congratulations to all this year’s finalists.

Two Wood Triples

On Sunday 10th August we held the Nell Rumble Two Wood Triples.

The weather was great, as was the bowling, with 7 teams fighting it out for the title. After 126 ends and 1512 bowls we had our champions for 2025.

Well done to Finton Price and Roger Price, new bowlers who joined last year, and Brian Brain for being our runners-up.

Congratulations to our 2025 champions Alan Elliott, Stuart Markham and Jack Markham.

Barry Day

On Sunday 3rd August a special celebration day was held for Barry Lee to mark his 40 years as a member of the club. During those 40 years he was Secretary for 24 years, Competitions Secretary for 9 and Men’s Captain 6 times. He also won 41 club competitions and 4 external titles.

Over 70 people came to celebrate with him. There were different fun games on each rink which were followed by a spider, a “corner to middle” and a spoon drive.

After the bowling was over we all tucked into a super hog roast, puddings and cake.

We thank our sponsors for helping to make all this possible and our super “Barry Day” team who ran the games, decorated the club and organised all the super food. And of course the bar staff, who were, as always, brilliant.

A superb day and one to remember.

Two Wood Pairs

Sunday 20th July saw another great day of bowls at the club. Despite threatening, grey skies eight teams battled in our 2 Wood Pairs competition. For the second year in a row the final was contested by Graham Thomas & Mick Browne and Pam Laken & Brian Brain. For the second year in a row it was a close fought match. And for the second year in a row Graham and Mick were victorious, retaining their title. Well done to all who played!
