A positive meeting was held earlier today between representatives of the three bodies that form the Coach Bowls scheme – Bowls England, EIBA Ltd and the Bowls Development Alliance – and representatives of the English Bowls Coaches Society EBCS in Royal Leamington Spa to consider the way forward for coaching in bowls. During the meeting, which was also attended by coaches representing various counties across England, Coach Bowls presented a discussion paper that aims to create a coaching system that meets the needs of both coaches and players. The paper will now be circulated to all affiliated clubs indoor, affiliated clubs and county associations outdoor and the EBCS for consultation ahead of a further meeting that will be held in Royal Leamington Spa on Tuesday 26th March.Tony Allcock MBE, Chief Executive of Bowls England and Chair of the Bowls Development Alliance, said: “The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for all parties to share their views on the future of coaching, with excellent input from many present. The discussion paper includes specific information which I trust will alleviate some of the misconceptions that have existed in the wider domain. This paper will now be circulated to all relevant parties to ensure that clubs and county associations have the opportunity to view the proposal and let us have feedback ahead of the next meeting.”Click here to view the discussion paper.”
